bjection was taken to the Akaroa County Council's attitude towards the application received at its lu&t meeting to repair and metal the » oad at the Maori Kaik, Akaroa. Mr Jas. Morgan wrote in regard to this road, which he had suggested should be put in order to Mrs Hokianga's property, objecting to the attiti-'ie taken up by the County council over the matter. He stated that it was resented that the remark had been made thai the Maoris did not pay rates, as Mrs Hokianga had offered to pay rates. The County clerk, Mr C. Stewart, reported he had forwarded a letter to Mr Dalzell, of the Labour Department, who had interviewed him in regard to the Kaik road. The letter had been returned through the dead letter office.
