After the victory the republicans and the socialist Alfonso XIII had gone into exile. He was advised to go into exile so he was able to avoid any problems since the Nationalist had already declared they would never accept Alfonso as their king. Alfonso agreed and left the country on 14th April, 1931. A committee made up of Signatories was shortly after created. When the Spanish Civil War broke out Alfonso made it clear he favoured the military uprising against the Popular Front government.
