- British and Prussian armies were in Belgium
- Napoleon drove a wedge in between the two armies
- Duke of Wellington:
- Commanded 68,000 men, however he was counting on the arrival of 72,000 troops
- He outnumbered Napoleon two to one
- Napoleon made a massive frontal attack
- Napoleon kept the Imperial Guard, the most feared troops in Europe, in reserve for the whole battle
- The Imperial Guard charged on the center of Wellington's army
- They were 40 yards from the British artillery when Wellington ordered them to fire
- The Guard were slaughtered and in 1 minute 400 were dead
