Jose Calvo Sotelo was a spanish politician and minister of finance throughout the dictatorship of Miguel Primo de Rivera and he was also an influential figure of the anti-republican right throughout the second republic. Jose Calvo Sotelo was assassinated on July 13, 1936 and he was assassinated by the bodyguards of the socialist party leader Indalecio Prieto it was an immediate prelude to trigger the military coup plot, which also marked the start of the Spanish Civil War.
