Madrid was the hot spot that either side needed to own or win for because that where everything would take place for any action for the country and control the main city for resupply and have better territory. This fight for Madrid was 2 year fight because Franco leads the attack on the defending city again the left wing members. this was the most intense fight during the war because both sides really wanted the capital but niter wanted to give it up so they used every man until Franco finally won the battle with a lot of causality on both side. This made Franco a contender of a strong leader of Spain if they won and this will soon come true because of the win he had now under his belt taking the Capitol of Madrid away the heavy guarded city of Madrid from the left wing gocenrment and making a step closer to fully weining
