Project of Augustine Cdl. Bea under Pius XII to retranslate the Latin Vulgate for use in the Breviary according to classical rather than ecclesiastical style. It's use was made optional rather than mandatory, but it still met with much criticism from members of the liturgical movement, with one liturgist lamenting that "high school Latin" had at last found its way into the liturgy.
