the great depression lasted ten years from 1929 till 1939. the great depression started when the stock market crashed. the great depression was made worse in the 1930s when there was a massive drought named the dust bowl. lots of families lost their savings because banks where collapsing businesses where closing down and people where loosing their jobs. the great depression ended at the start of world war two because there were lots of jobs in the military which gave people who were unemployed jobs. those people where then earning more money to support their family's.
