It's purpose was to summarize the colonist motivation for independence.It was to show foreigners why colonies separated themselves from Great Britain. It is issued by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. One of the most important purposes to creating this declaration was to persuade reluctant colonies to join them. Another purpose of it was to explain congress position regarding human government. The third purpose was to show other the grievances against King George III to show the legitimacy of their actions to others. This later on led into the colonies to fight against Britain in order to gain independence.
