This incident consisted of two explosions the first occurring at approximately 1 AM 12 hours later the second occurred. The explosion was so jarring it damaged the homes nearby, as was felt up to 30 miles away. There were leaks that contributed to elevated levels of 1,3 butadiene prior to the explosion. In addition, over 1000 pounds of 1,3 butadiene, particulate matter, and volatile organic chemicals were released. The TCEQ has referred this case to the Texas Attorney General's Office
