The Kansas-Nebraska overturned the Missouri compromise and let Kansas and Nebraska have a vote to decide whether or not they would be admitted to the union as slave states or free states. This led to bleeding Kansas.
The Kansas-Nebraska act increase tensions between slave states and free states because each side wanted Kansas and Nebraska to join their side.
