They opened their first retail outlet in 1966 and launched the Nike brand shoe in 1972. Nike currently operates in 120 countries and has around 1100 stores worldwide. Nike is a trendy shoe and thus has an extremely high demand. Nike is notoriously famous for underpaying workers in China, Indonesia, and Thailand. Thus, the globalization factors affecting my shoes are cultural, as a result of the influence of a US brand on the world and as a result of the cheap labour used, affecting the citizens in foreign cultures. This also impacts the environment negatively through the large sweatshops being used to keep up with high demand.
