Septimus and company make it to the Heart of the Ways but find the exit blocked. Simon still having some of his dark knowledge uses a blind transport with like for like materials to get up to the egg chamber while Septimus and Marcia transport to a place where Marcia visited near by as a child. Simon makes it up just in time to stop his son William from completely drowning. When Septimus and Marcia finish the transport they find Oraton-Marr fleeing with the Orm egg Septimus goes after him while Marcia goes to Tod who alerted her that she needed help to finish helping William survive his near death experience. Septimus is incapacitated while chasing Oraton-Marr who gets away but unknown to Septimus his dragon Spitfire is following him because his instincts tell him to protect the Orm they are family. When Septimus is healed he, Marcia, Simon, Snow Princess Driffa, and Tod preform an old ritual called Five Magyks to help restore the enchantment that was on the land and broken by Oraton-Marr. Tod then accepts the offer of being the Apprentice to the ExtraOrdinary Wizard Septimus Heap.
