Many of the products that I use during my hair routine are due to the effects of globalization. For example, my Tresemme shampoo and conditioner; the brand was originally created in Missouri, USA, but was bought in 2010 by Unilever, an Anglo–Dutch multinational consumer goods company, which allowed them to reach new markets and achieve their global status. Some other products like creams and gels that I use are manufactured in foregin countries but they are imported because of Canada’s lack of widely known beauty products, and a high demand.
I believe the economic and cultural factors of globalization are impacted the most. These companies are able to merge into a global market and increase profit, and were also introduced to these markets because of our desire for foreign, high quality beauty products. With so many brands available it also gives power to the consumer to choose which product they prefer.
