It is very difficult to transport fruit over the border due to possible bugs and diseases that the fruit may be carrying. Also, depending on the seasons decides whether fruits are going to be homegrown or if they are imported from tropical countries. If they are being transported from tropical countries tariffs and restrictions may be applied causing price of fruit to rise.
