Roger Bacon is commonly known for his studies in subjects like mathematics, astronomy, optics, alchemy, and even languages. His extensive works on the reform and reorganization of the university curriculum were, on the surface, aimed at reforming the study of theology. He attempted to reform the education because he believed that the status of learning affects the quality of individuals’ lives in a variety of ways.
