In 2016, Arts Minister Heather Humphrey worked with the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Paschal Donohoe to create The Creative Ireland Programme. This programme aims to increase national access to creative opportunities as well as cultural practices between 2017 and 2022. Its five-year pilot Creative Children plan supports TIE strongly in its aim to use the LEA to create culture teams that will work together to understand the needs of each Irish community regarding the Arts. It too aims to provide tuition in the area of arts for children (The Heritage Council, 2019) .
Right Here! Right Now! As part of Cruinniú na nÓg, supported by the Creative Ireland Programme, this free weekend of art, theatre, dance, games and film is on at The Ark. It is a celebration of children's rights, the right to play, to engage in cultural activities and the right to express themselves.
