Street Theatre characterizes outdoor performances, performances which do not take place in designated venues. The aim of street theatre is that it goes to its audience, rather than the other way around, the audience coming to it. Street theatre is often related to community theatre (Drama Online). Street theatre is often critiqued because many of its actors are amateurs, putting on impromptu shows. Throughout the twentieth century, until the end of the 1970’s many street performers were often arrested and charged with obstruction.
