Although it is unclear exactly when the astrolabe was simplified by Prince Henry, it was some where between 1394-1460. The Astrolabe was a tool sailors used out in the ocean using the stars to determine where they are and where they want to go. This enabled sailors to keep the route they wanted to make and, make it faster to get to the place they want to go.
