Not even 24 hours after killing Polly, John starts a new marriage.
With Polly gone, John can focus on Jessie.
He wants to forget about the murder and his life in Scotland.
To do this, he decides to get married to Jessie - this is the start of his new life.
Jessie does not know any of the terrible things that John has done.
This event emphasizes the cold heart and twisted mind of John Wilson. Marrying his mistress two days after he kills his wife qualifies him as a psychopath.
