An attempt for the Irish to gain freedom from British rule. The British easily stopped the rebellion massacring the Irish at every battle. After being defeated small groups of United Irishmen fought using guerrilla warfare tactics. During the rebellion many non-combatant Irish people were massacred and raped by British solider.
