Harriet Beecher Stowe releases Uncle Tom's Cabin which informs citizens of the North of the horrors of slavery. Uncle Tom's Cabin was the second most selling book of all time only behind the bible. This aided the start of the civil war by creating a stronger anti-slavery force in the North and bringing people who were not interested before to aid in the abolition of slavery.
