Was an armed conflict between the United States of America and the United Mexican States, that started over Texas. Eventually led to us gaining Texas and the area called the Mexican Cession, which is the modern day parts of the Southwest of the United States. This was significant to sectionalism because there was a lot of tension between free and slave states over what the new land should be.
