17 jul 1954 ano - Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka

Descrição:

Brown v. Board of Education is a landmark Supreme Court case where the court ruled unanimously that the segregation of public schools was unconstitutional. This case was important because it overturned the separate but equal doctrine established in Plessy v. Ferguson. The Warren Court made this decision, and it was argued by a number of different advocates, including Thurgood Marshall. The case was taken to the Supreme Court but was a consolidation of cases that arose in Kansas, South Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, and Washington D.C. The petitioners argued that segregation violated the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. This case originated from multiple cases of segregation across the nation, and resulted in the desegregation of many public school all over the United States.
