Italy's leader, Mussolini, had seem the Manchurian Crisis and realized just how weak the league was. Seeing this, and wanting more power for his country, he decided to invade Abyssinia. Abyssinia went to the league for help, they put sanctions up in Italy. Britain and France tried to make a secret deal to give Mussolini two thirds of Abyssinia to stop his invasion. He denied this offer and went over to take Abyssinia, later on Hitler offered Mussolini unrestricted trade to Mussolini to Germany. This was the start to the Italy-Germany alliance.
