The 2nd major battle of the Sino-Japanese war, The Battle of Nanking was a fight for the city of Nanking, the Chinese capital. The city fell within two days of the Japanese arriving in force to the city. Following the capture of the city Japanese soldiers massacred Chinese prisoners of war, murdered civilians, and committed acts of looting and rape in an event known as the Nanking Massacre
