Roundhay Garden Scene: the world's earliest surviving motion-picture film. It's a short film directed by French inventor Louis Le Prince.
And was released/made on oct 14th 1888.

This was important because it inspired many future filmmakers to come to light. Audiences had never seen this before so it was really shocking and people were really interested.
