1 jan 1500 ano - Sikhism

Descrição:

In the Punjab region of India, a man by the name of Guru Nanak had started to amass a following based on his ideas of God and spirituality around the year 1500.

Nanak was born into a Hindu family when India was still under the Islamic sultanate. As he grew up, he began to learn about a great many religions that were found throughout the subcontinent and eventually formed his own perspective on there being one God and having a personal relationship with him.

Around the beginning of the 1500s Nanak's followers came to be called Sikh, meaning "to learn." Over the years Nanak's teachings as well as those of his successors would be compiled into holy scriptures known as the Guru Granth Sahib, which became the basis of the now-prevalent religion, Sikhism.
