This act was a step closer for America to enter the war and more help for the allies. The Lend Lease Act gave Roosevelt permission to sell, transfer, exchange, lease, lend, defense to any government whenever he thought it was necessary in the interest of the defense of the United States. By 1945, the United States had spent more than $40 billion of Lend- Lease aid to allies, including the Soviet Union.
