The Clayton Act sharpened and clarified the provisions of the Sherman Act by outlawing the techniques that firms might use to develop monopoly power.
The Federal antitrust act that strengthened the Sherman Act by making it illegal for firms to engage in practices like price discrimination, tying contracts (a requirement imposed by a seller that a buyer purchase another of its products as a condition for buying the desired product), acquisition of stocks to produce less competition, and forming interlocking directorates (a situation where one or more members of the board of directors of a corporation are also on the board of directors of a competing corporation).
