1 dez 1955 ano - Rosa Parks refuses to give up her seat on the bus
Descrição:
When Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat in the bus she was riding, she was jailed for disorderly conduct for violating a city bus ordinance. By the time the news hit the black community, black leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr. met and formed the Montgomery Improvement Association. This organization got blacks together to boycott the buses since 70% of the people who rode the buses were black. Their boycott was eventually successful, and the black community finally received the right of equality on the buses.
Without Rosa Parks, the Montgomery Improvement Association might not have ever been formed. This small push forward was more than a small push; it showed that the blacks of the 1950s and forward could truly make a difference for themselves, which greatly attracted attention to the Civil Rights Movement.
