1 jan 1951 ano - Levittown is finished being constructed
Descrição:
This suburban "town" named Levittown encouraged people to escape the grind of urban life and move to the suburbs. Soldiers returning from WWII decided that they wanted to have a laid back and relaxed lifestyle, so they moved to the suburbs with their families. In Levittown, it was widely seen that the women stay inside and tend to the children, housework, and other things, while the men go out for work and return later in the day.
During the 1950s, there was economic prosperity that was caused by the Baby Boom. The economic condition of America was still getting more and more prosperous in the 1950s, and one of the reasons why is because of so many people moving to the suburbs and buying houses in Levittown. More than 17,500 houses were sold, which made Levittown a monstrous amount of money.
