This Hurricane causes damage in Gulfport and Biloxi, Mississippi
Mobile, Alabama
2500 evacuees were sheltered at the Louisiana Superdome
All of the damages of Hurricane Katrina were about 125 billion dollars.
1833 people died
Congress approves $62 billion in emergency spending for hurricane relief on 8 September.

The cost for private insurers tops $40 billion.-
Even though Congress helped with the spending for Katrina there were a lot of celebrities too like

Oprah who donated 1 million to her charity the Angel Network, Hillary Duff who donates 250,000 and many more. Katrina would remain one of the deadliest Hurricanes that The U.S had faced.

The importance of this is that this was one deadliest hurricane that the U.S had ever faced. It damaged the economy and the state of New Orleans.
