- Buckingham led an expedition to Cadiz where he got drunk and the army lost 7,000 men out of 15,000 men, when the Spanish lost hardly any men.
- Buckingham unsuccessful
- Men too old, impotent and sick
- Made a deal with the Dutch to guard the channel
- 100 ships 15,000 men
- Cecil lost control of his men
- Not much loot gained
- Lots of drink
- The men who died were probably unconcious
