The Taft Hartley Act is passed as a response to a wave of strikes in 1945 and 1946 and serves to curb the power of labor unions by prohibiting them from performing jurisdictional, wildcat, or political strikes, in addition to secondary boycotts, mass picking, closed shops, and donations to political campaigns. (Change: beginning of passage of legislation weakening labor unions, decreased union popularity)
