This order forced enemy aliens out of anywhere that could be vaguely identified as a military area. As a result, all people of Japanese descent living on the west coast were forcibly removed from their homes and placed in crude detention camps for the duration of the war. The order destroyed the lives of many Japanese Americans. (Continuity: discrimination against Japanese Americans as a result of the war)
