15 nov 1914 ano - Houston Ship Channel

Descrição:

The 50-mile Houston Ship Channel is a man made port for ocean vessels. The waterway was originally known as Buffalo Bayou and was swampy, marshy, and overgrown with dense vegetation. Steamboats and shallow draft boats were the only boats able to navigate its complicated channel. The dredging and deepening of the channel opened Houston to the world. It stretches from the Gulf of Mexico to Houston and Harris County, Texas. The original depth was 25 feet, and it was later deepened to 40 feet.
