It began on May 10, 1857, as a mutiny of sepoys of the British East India Company's army. Sepoys in the Presidency of Bengal revolted against their British officers. This was also known as India's First War of Independence, the Great Rebellion, the Indian Mutiny, or the Sepoy Mutiny. The image attached is a photo of the Indian Rebellion in 1957.
