The Channel Tunnel finally opened in 1994, this had a huge effect on the Travel and Tourism sector as it created a much easier way to get from Britain to France. The Channel Tunnel leads from Folkstone to Calais, it had a huge effect on the Travel and Tourism sector as a lot of people who wanted to go to France had to fly there, or go on a Ferry. The tunnel decreased the market for ferries to France by around 50%. It is now used everyday by thousands of people that can easily go to France.
