The Committee of Public safety is one of the key players in the Reign of Terror. They were led by Maximilien Robespierre, a very radical Jacobin. This Committee would go on to kill tens of thousands of people, including Marie Antoinette and ironically Robespierre as well. They popularized the guillotine, and made use of the terror in France to consolidate their power.
