The Japanese army committed a major raid during a six week period known as the Nanjing Massacre. Wanton, Rape, Looting, Arson, and mass executions took place. Japanese sources reported that there were 142,000 deaths but Chinese sources report upward of 340,000 deaths and 20,000 women raped.
