The Society of Jesus was founded with the purpose of studying the religion, doing charity work, and spreading their beliefs of God and Christianity to the people of the world. It successfully countered the Protestantism movement, converting thousands back into Catholicism. They are still a very powerful religious organization today, with more than 16 thousand members, called Jesuits, in their care.
