1850 CE - 1864 CE The Taiping Rebellion was a major uprising in China led by Hong Xiuquan. The rebellion was started due to tensions with Christians and anger towards the Manchu government. Though the rebellion was defeated, it had lasting impacts that gave way to the fall of the Manchus. (5.3)
