The French revolution began in 1789 and ended in 1799 with the introduction of a new general named Napoleon. The whole revolution was based around the Enlightenment and was pretty much led by Maximilien Robespierre. They basically wanted a society that was more based off of reason, as opposed to the one that they were living in, which was based on Christianity. The use of the Guillotine was common and was “cut off” when it was used to exterminate King Louis XVI and his wife, Mary Antoinette.
