While many Americans were not happy with Truman, he was the best for president in this election. While people were not happy with Truman, he came through. He lauched a cross-country speaking tour for opposing progressive legiation and "do-nothing" Congress, by doing so, he won the election. He was able to perform a balancing act, getting support from Jewish and Catholic voters.
