Uncle Tom's Cabin, is an anti slavery book written by Harriet Beecher Stowe, an American writer. The book had a huge effect on attitudes toward slavery and African Americans. It paints a grim picture of life under slavery. The title character is a pious, passive slave, who is eventually beaten to death by the overseer Simon Legree.
