 Description: Robert E Lee surrendered to Ulysses grant at Appomattox Court house in Virginia. FIve to Six million slaves were freed and had no clue what to do. 
Immediate Impact: The war was over and troops went home with their sidearms 
Long-term impact: The 13th, 14th, and 15th was added onto the constitution. 
Key people: Ulysses S Grant and Robert E Lee
Role of each person: Ulysses was head of the North and Robert E Lee met him in Virginia to surrender.
