Description: Beauregard was moving his troops to richmond but heard word of a union attack. He then moved the troops to Bull Run and prepared to attack union soldiers. Others heard about this battle and came to watch it like a movie but quickly realized this is not entertainment. The union eventually retreated with about 5000 casualties.
Immediate Impact: The impact was that the South lost enlistments because the South thought they would win a fast short war.  
Long-term impact: The South began to advance in the civil war until Vicksburg.
Key people: Mrs. Rose O'Neal, General Beauregard, Thomas Jackson, Joseph Johnson, and General Irvin McDowell were key leaders.
Role of each person: General Beauregard was the confederate general at the time who heard from Mrs. Rose O'Neal that the union was advancing with Irvin McDowell as the commander. He then received aid from Thomas Jackson and Joseph Johnson.
