Description: The National Association of Baseball Players was established in 1858. 50 teams were established. In 1860 baseball teams began to travel to different cities and towns to play baseball. The games would rally as many as 3,000 fans per game. The games were a nice way to take people’s mind off of the ongoing war.
Immediate impact: Took people’s mind off of the Civil War.
Long term impact: Baseball has become a favorite American pastime
Key people: Jim Creighton
Role of each person: Creighton was the first star pitcher in baseball history. He died at age 21 due to internal injuries from a game.
