Mulan, disguised as a man, takes her elderly father's place in the Chinese military and fights the Huns even though it was illegal for women to fight for China. She eventually defeats Shan Yu, the leader of the Huns' attacks against China, and saves the life of the emporer of China. At the end, Mulan is revered for her courage by the emperor himself, and even offered a job in his court, which she graciously turns down and returns home to her family.
