Hitler, after toppling the governments of various smaller countries, invades Poland. This event is quite significant because it saturated WWII, as well as ending the Allied policy of appeasement towards Hitler. Until now, they gave Hitler what he wanted, by betraying Czechoslovakia and not defending the others. But they decided to uphold their promise to Poland and began WWII by declaring war on Germany.
